What is hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural, focused state of attention and heightened suggestibility, often accompanied by deep relaxation. It’s similar to being deeply absorbed in a movie or book — you’re aware of your surroundings, but your attention is sharply focused.

  • A natural mental state: Everyone experiences trance-like states daily — like daydreaming or zoning out while driving.

  • Guided focus and suggestion: A hypnotherapist uses verbal cues and mental imagery to guide you into a relaxed, focused state.

  • Increased suggestibility: While in hypnosis, you’re more open to helpful suggestions, especially ones aligned with your goals (e.g., quitting smoking).

  • Still in control: You’re conscious and aware — you can accept or reject any suggestion.

  • Therapeutic tool: Used in hypnotherapy to address emotional, behavioral, or physical issues.

  • Not mind control

  • Not sleep (though it can feel deeply relaxing)

  • Not something only “suggestible” or “weak-willed” people can experience

  • Not a quick fix — it usually works best as part of a broader treatment plan

Hypnosis is like a very focused daydream. It’s a state where your body is relaxed, your mind is calm, and you’re more open to helpful suggestions — kind of like when you’re really into a movie and forget about everything else around you.

A hypnotherapist helps guide you into this state using gentle words and calming instructions. While you’re in hypnosis, you’re still awake and in control, but your mind is

more focused and ready to make positive changes — like letting go of a bad habit, reducing stress, or boosting confidence.

It’s not magic or mind control — it’s just a natural, relaxed state that we all go into sometimes without even realizing it.

Effectiveness of Hypnosis vs. Other Therapies

  • Hypnosis: Achieves significant outcomes in fewer sessions.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Typically requires 22 sessions.

  • Psychotherapy: Often necessitates up to 600 sessions.

A study by Alfred A. Barrios, PhD, published in American Health Magazine, reported:

“Hypnosis: 93% recovery after 6 sessions”
“Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions”
“Psychotherapy: 38% recovery after 600 sessions”

Absolutely! Hypnotherapy conducted remotely can be just as effective as in-person sessions. In fact, many clients find that the comfort and privacy of their own homes enhance their ability to relax and enter a hypnotic state more deeply. This setting often leads to a more profound and effective experience.

Online hypnotherapy offers several advantages:

  • Convenience and Comfort: No need to travel; you can engage in sessions from the comfort of your own space.

  • Global Accessibility: Clients from all over the world can access services, breaking down geographical barriers.

  • Personalized Environment: Being in your own environment allows you to control elements like lighting and seating, which can enhance relaxat
